Crystal Dynamics, Flying Wild Hog and publisher Amazon Game Studios have released new footage of Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, their remake of the original Tomb Raider, to mark the 1996 game’s 30th anniversary, Polygon reports. The footage was shown this weekend at the TR30 Derby event and MCM London.
According to Polygon, the trailer covers all four of the game’s main locations: Peru, Greece, Egypt and Atlantis. It revisits several well-known moments from the original, including the large Atlas puzzle, fights against the Atlanteans, and the trap where stepping on the hand of King Midas’ statue turns Lara to gold.
Polygon notes that the remake won’t be a one-to-one recreation. Along with the classic acrobatic gunplay, it adds modern systems such as a Focus meter, skill trees and crafting. Game director Raul Siquera described the Focus mechanic earlier this year.
When you’re taking damage, dealing damage, dodging attacks, you’re building your Focus meter. Focus allows you to slow down time around you and showcase some of the things that Lara used to do in 1996.

As Polygon explains it, filling the Focus meter unlocks more of Lara’s signature acrobatic moves.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is scheduled for February 12, 2027, on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and PC. Lara wears her classic shorts and tank top by default, but pre-orders include a costume based on her look in the Survivor trilogy. The deluxe and collector’s editions come with 48 hours of early access.
Polygon points out that the remake was originally meant to arrive in time for the anniversary before it was delayed to 2027. The original Tomb Raider first launched on the Sega Saturn, and its PlayStation and PC versions followed a month later. Crystal Dynamics is also working on Tomb Raider: Catalyst, a new adventure set in Northern India that is also due in 2027.
