Marvel Cosmic Invasion‘s second DLC, The Siege of Castle Doom, comes out on November 10. It adds a new replayable mode set inside Doctor Doom’s Castle Doomstadt, plus two new playable characters, the Invisible Woman and Doctor Doom himself. The developers shared the details in a PlayStation Blog post.

Tribute Games and Dotemu revealed the two new characters earlier, according to Nintendo Life, which calls the new mode a roguelite. Nintendo Life compares it to the Dimension Shellshock mode in Shredder’s Revenge.

In the new mode, heroes fight through the castle while Doom charges his new Cosmic Inductor, a device meant to make him Earth’s Champion. Reed Richards guides the players through voice-overs, and Doom taunts them. Each time the heroes are beaten, a Siege Gauge fills. Winning fights earns batteries, which fill a Stabilizer gauge and slow Doom’s progress.

Players pick a route by choosing themed doors. Equipment doors grant special powers like force fields or energy blasts. Event doors lead to arenas where the rules change for a while, with a bonus or penalty depending on the outcome. Heal doors restore health. Infinite doors give unlimited ammo or focus. Progression doors hand out a random number of batteries. Areas include the Halls of Doom, which are full of medieval torture devices, battlements hit by blizzards, and the Tower of Solitude with its elevator platforms. According to the developers, the mode has “more than five times more encounters than the main game,” and that count leaves out its events, traps and hazards.

Stabilizers let Reed Richards give each hero Perks, which fall into Offense, Defense and Tactical branches. In multiplayer, an MVP system shows the stats of the players who did best in a run. In Reed Richards’ Lab, players can unlock more equipment, events and modifiers. Finishing a run unlocks a new color palette for the hero used.
