In a statement to Czech media, studio CEO Martin Frývaldský called it a serious incident for the company and for everyone affected, according to PC Gamer’s machine translation. He said the studio’s first priority is to secure its systems and work out how far the breach reached. He also said Warhorse would take the steps needed to protect its employees, partners and community. Frývaldský did not say what the attackers were after or what impact the attack has had.

Warhorse currently has two announced projects: a role-playing game set in J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth and a new Kingdom Come game. PC Gamer suggests that material from those games could be an obvious target for attackers, which could lead to leaks ahead of the studio’s own marketing plans. The outlet also notes that player data could have been the target, or something else entirely. Warhorse has not confirmed any of these possibilities.

No details on whether any player accounts or personal data were exposed have been released so far.
