FromSoftware has pushed The Duskbloods, its Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, out of its 2026 release window and into 2027. The studio announced the delay on Thursday through the game’s official account and did not name a more specific date or window, GameSpot reports.
In its statement, FromSoftware said players who took part in the game’s August network test showed strong interest in its core ideas, including combat, strategic depth and player expression. The studio said the extra time is meant to build on those elements, with the release moved to allow “final adjustments to game rules and balancing.” It also apologized to players who have been waiting for the game.
According to Eurogamer, the game’s account said development has reached the final adjustment stage. Nintendo is the game’s publisher.
The Duskbloods is a PvPvE multiplayer game directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki. Polygon describes it as a match-based game in which eight players control characters called Bloodsworn. They fight monsters and each other to earn victory points called Virtue, and there are several ways to win. Miyazaki has said he hopes the design produces “unexpected drama,” according to Polygon. It will be FromSoftware’s first new game since Elden Ring Nightreign.
Before the announcement, some fans had already doubted the game would make its 2026 window. GameSpot notes that it did not appear at the September Nintendo Direct. Eurogamer says neither Nintendo nor FromSoftware had shared news about it since the August test. Both outlets point out that the delay also keeps it clear of Grand Theft Auto 6, which Polygon says launches in November.
Interest in the game appears to be high. Eurogamer and GameSpot both report that more people applied for the network test than for the equivalent Elden Ring Nightreign test. Eurogamer adds that the first test session ended early because of major connection problems, which were fixed in later sessions.
