Rockstar Games plans to release Grand Theft Auto 6 on PC in the first quarter of 2027, GamesBeat reported this week, citing four anonymous industry sources. Rockstar has not confirmed the report, and according to Eurogamer, a Rockstar representative did not respond to GamesBeat’s request for comment before it published.
The game launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19. A PC release between January and March would give the console versions about two to five months on their own. According to GameSpot, the game’s official platform list still names only those two consoles.
That gap would be much shorter than for Rockstar’s recent games. As GameSpot and Eurogamer point out, GTA 5 came to PC about 18 months after it launched on PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2013. Red Dead Redemption 2 launched on consoles in October 2018 and reached PC in November 2019.
Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has previously said that PC is growing in importance for the publisher. According to Eurogamer, he said earlier this year that Take-Two tends not to “go across all platforms simultaneously” but knows players want the game beyond consoles.
Eurogamer and Rock Paper Shotgun both connected the reported timing to the game’s online mode. Twitch CEO Dan Clancy suggested in an interview earlier this year that the multiplayer component would arrive in 2027, saying viewers will see “an even bigger one next year when they launch multiplayer.” Rockstar has not announced a date for the online mode.
GameSpot also notes that Xbox recently said GTA 6 will not be available to stream to PC through Xbox Cloud Gaming.
