Rebel Wolves will release update 1.1 for The Blood of Dawnwalker next week, according to Polygon. The studio says the patch includes more than 1,000 improvements and fixes, and it also adds a new difficulty option and a way to reset character abilities.
The developer listed the main changes in a post on the game’s official X account, Polygon reports. The current Story difficulty will be renamed Forgiving. A new, easier Story mode takes its place and provides “additional combat assist,” according to the patch notes quoted by GameSpot.
The update also adds an item called Draught of Mind Rebirth. It wipes every ability the player has unlocked in the Swordmastery, Witchcraft and Vampirism trees so the points can be spent again. GameSpot notes that the potion also gives back the in-game time spent learning those skills. That leaves more room for extra missions under the game’s 30-day limit.
Other changes in update 1.1, according to both outlets:
- Directional animal petting, which uses the game’s directional combat system to let players pet dogs and cats
- Larger subtitle font options and the option to turn on subtitles for every line of dialogue
- An updated FrameGen implementation with its own settings
- Reworked combat animations and camera movement
- Better targeting, lock-on and disengaging from enemies in combat
- More responsive targeting and surface attachment when using Shadowstep and Planeshift
- Uncensored blood and gore in the Japanese version, which Polygon specifies applies to the Steam release
GameSpot says the targeting fix deals with a current problem. Right now the directional system gives priority to blocking incoming attacks from any enemy over locking onto the one the player has chosen.
Polygon reports that Rebel Wolves has not given an exact release day or said whether all platforms will get the patch at once. The list also leaves out New Game Plus, which fans have requested since launch. Director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz has said the team is looking into the feature but can’t share more yet.
The Blood of Dawnwalker is out now on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. In GameSpot’s review, Phil Hornshaw called it an RPG “worth scouring and savoring.”
