Faraway, the sci-fi arcade game from developer Steph Thirion, will be released on November 5 for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch. GameSpot revealed the date as an exclusive. The game was first announced in 2010.
According to GameSpot, the whole game is played with a single button. You guide a shooting star through space, forming constellations along the way and using their gravity to slingshot toward new destinations while keeping the star supplied with fuel.
GameSpot describes Faraway as an endless arcade game with procedurally generated levels. Each run begins from scratch, and the universe is built in real time based on how well the player is doing. As players get better, they move faster, score more points and reach harder parts of the galaxy. There are also 16 handcrafted puzzle stages, and the outlet says the goal is a relaxing mix of exploration, replayability and long-term mastery.
Annapurna Interactive is publishing the game. GameSpot notes that the label released Road Trip earlier this month and Silent Hill: Townfall last month. Its upcoming slate includes Demi and the Fractured Dream, Uncanyon and We Kill Monsters.
