About the game

Tidebreak is a top-down naval roguelite about sailing a stubborn little sloop across the Shattered Reach, a sea that rearranges its islands every time the tide turns. Each run is a voyage: chart a route, pick fights or avoid them, and try to reach the lighthouse at the edge of the world before your hull gives out.

Ships are steered with momentum and wind in mind, so broadsides are as much about positioning as aim. Between runs, salvage pays for permanent refits at the harbor town of Gull’s Rest, whose residents slowly change as you rescue them from the water.

Runs last thirty to fifty minutes, and a handful of crew members with distinct abilities and quirks give each voyage a different rhythm.

Tidebreak review: salt, sails, and second chances

Sam Whitlock

Tidebreak nails the hardest part of the roguelite formula: every voyage feels different, and every failure sends you back to harbor wanting one more go. Momentum-based sailing, a lovable crew, and a harbor town that grows with you make it an easy recommendation for anyone who likes runs that matter.
