Citadel of Echoes is finished. Northgate Interactive confirmed this morning that Morrow Keep’s dark-fantasy action RPG has gone gold, meaning the build that will be pressed to disc and submitted for platform certification is locked. The game remains on track for October 29 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Preloads open October 25 at 17:00 UTC on all three platforms. Owners of the Deluxe Edition get 48 hours of early access beginning October 27 at 17:00 UTC, and the standard edition unlocks October 29 at the same time worldwide rather than rolling out by region at local midnight. Northgate lists install sizes of roughly 92GB on PC, 88GB on PlayStation 5, and 90GB on Xbox Series X|S, with the day-one patch included in those figures.
That patch, version 1.0.1, will be live at launch for every edition. According to the published notes, it includes:
- A photo mode with a free camera, depth-of-field and exposure controls, and a toggle that hides the player character.
- Penitent, a difficulty above the default that shortens the parry window, removes one Resonance charge from the meter, and makes echo encounters inside the Spire of Aunvar replay with an extra enemy.
- Separate Quality and Performance modes on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, targeting 30fps and 60fps respectively. Xbox Series S runs a single 30fps mode.
- Fixes for a rare softlock in the Bellwright’s Wing and for online summons failing to connect when one player is in a menu.
We would rather tell players exactly what is in the patch now than have them find it in a changelog at midnight. Everything in 1.0.1 was finished before we went gold. It simply couldn’t make the disc.

Morrow Keep has kept its marketing focused on the fortress itself. The extended gameplay demonstration shown at Autumn Showfloor 2026 last week walked through two of the citadel’s twelve wings without a loading screen, and showed how stepping into an echo — a replayed memory of a soldier’s final battle — can change its outcome and open a new route through the building. The two-weapon swap and Resonance meter, which builds as you parry and lets you borrow an echo’s technique for a single strike, were front and center.
Update, 15:20 UTC: Northgate has published PC system requirements. The minimum spec calls for a six-core desktop processor, 16GB of RAM, a graphics card with 8GB of video memory, and an SSD, which the publisher says is mandatory rather than recommended because of the citadel’s seamless streaming. A full requirements breakdown and our own performance testing will follow closer to launch.
