Kitebound’s Free Coastal Expansion Arrives November 12

The Lamplighter’s Coast adds a seaside region below the Highfold range, 14 new letters, and a kite tail built for crosswinds. It is free for everyone who owns the game.

Kitebound is getting its first expansion, and it will not cost anything. Little Paper Kite announced that The Lamplighter’s Coast arrives November 12 on Nintendo Switch 2 and PC as a free update for everyone who owns the game.

The expansion adds a new region at the foot of the Highfold range, where the mountain villages give way to fishing hamlets and a lighthouse that has not been lit in years. Wren reaches it by a new route from the southernmost village, and the studio says the coast plays differently from the mountains. Instead of rising thermals, the shoreline has steady crosswinds that push constantly in one direction, and the lighthouse beam, once relit, creates a column of warm air you can ride at night. The studio estimates the coast adds three to four hours to the game.

  • A coastal region roughly the size of two existing valleys.
  • 14 new letters, including a thread that resolves the story of the postmistress’s sister.
  • The Keel Tail, a new kite tail that steadies Wren in crosswinds at the cost of slower dives.
  • Night deliveries that only open after the lighthouse is lit.
  • Local co-op support for the full region, with the second player as a smaller companion kite.

A lot of the letters we got from players were about the people they wished they’d heard more from. The coast is mostly for them.

The two-person studio says work on its next game, Atlas of Small Things, is continuing alongside the expansion, and that it has nothing new to share on a release window yet.
