Meadowlight and Halcyon Six released a free demo for Wildgrass during Autumn Showfloor 2026, and it is available now on Nintendo Switch 2, PC, and PlayStation 5. The demo covers the full first season of spring on your inherited farm and the southern half of the valley, which Meadowlight estimates at three to four hours of play.
Progress carries over to the full game, which launches November 19. That includes your farm layout, the animals you befriend, and your foraging journal. The demo ends when summer begins, at which point a letter on your doorstep thanks you for playing and the save is flagged for transfer.
I spent the first two hours of the demo on Switch 2 and came away impressed by how differently it treats the land compared with most farming games. You do not clear the overgrowth; you decide what to keep. Native clover I left standing near the barn spread over two in-game weeks and pulled in bees that pollinated a nearby row of beans. A patch of nettles I cut down came back thinner, and the hedgehog that had been living in it moved to the orchard.
The demo also confirms that Wildgrass has no energy bar and no day timer in the traditional sense. Days advance when you sleep, and crops will not wither while you spend an afternoon exploring the ruined mills by pony cart. Online co-op for up to four players is not included in the demo but is listed for launch.
