Bracken & Bone showed the first real gameplay from Abyssal Choir at Autumn Showfloor 2026, and the studio has now posted the full six-minute segment online. It is a single unbroken take that follows a salvage diver from a dry airlock into the flooded lower decks of Thalassa Deep, the research station at the center of the game.
Oxygen is the constant pressure. A gauge on the diver’s wrist ticks down while swimming, drains faster when sprinting, and dropped sharply in the trailer when the diver panicked after a door sealed behind her. Oxygen also functions as currency: the diver spent a canister at a workbench to craft a pressure seal, effectively trading time for a shortcut.
The most striking moment came when the station went quiet. A low clicking began somewhere in the dark, and the diver killed her helmet lamp and stopped moving. The creature hunting her uses echolocation, and Bracken & Bone says anything that makes noise, including the diver’s own breathing when oxygen runs low, can give away her position.
In Hollowmere, sound was something you listened to. In Abyssal Choir, it’s something you’re constantly producing, and you have to manage it like any other resource.
Callum Achterberg, audio director at Bracken & Bone, speaking after the presentation
Bracken & Bone did not show any combat in the segment, and the studio says that is deliberate: the diver can fight back with improvised tools, but most encounters are meant to be avoided. A second showing, focused on the station’s dry upper decks, is planned for early next year. The game remains on track for March 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, published by Grey Harbor.
